PVC pipe bow
We make our ownCollapsible onions from PVC pipes. In contrast to the manufacture of onions from other materials, this method is quite simple, the main thing is that it should be a building dryer.
Materials and tools:
- PVC pipe 150 cm long and 25 mm thick;
- construction dryer;
- long board and two boards 70-75 cm;
- aluminum foil;
- spray paint;
- electrical tape;
Mark up the PVC pipe. Measure out from each end to 30 cm and 60 cm and put the mark with a marker. We mark the middle - 75 cm. We postpone 7 (8) cm from the middle in both directions and put a marker on the marker - this will be a pen.
We bend the pipe so that it is more convenient to heat we make a small device — take a foil, fold it at an angle of 900.
We put the PVC pipe in the corner of the foil and heat one end to "30 cm mark" with a building hairdryer.Heat evenly by turning the pipe. After the end of the pipe has lost its stiffness, wrap its foil so it does not cool down.
Immediately proceed to heating the pipe on the other side in the same way.
If the first end cools down quickly, then until it is completely cooled, heat it with a building dryer.
When heating, be careful, the tube should not bubble, become black or discolor strongly - this means that you heat it too quickly.
The ends of the pipe are heated and ready, now they need to flatten. Put the pipe on the board, fix it so that it does not slide.
At the top, from one end, we place a 70-75 cm plank on the pipe (it should lie on the half of the pipe), put something heavy on top, or stand on our knees. From the center to the end of the pipe will be increasingly flattened. We are waiting for the pipe to cool.
Do the same thing from the other end of the pipe.
The result is a round pipe in the middle and flattened to the ends.
On 30 cm labels (marking at a distance of 30 cm from the end), mark the middle of the photo Step 3.
Take the building hair dryer and heat the 30 cm section (the pipe should begin to return to its original circular state). Clamp the heated end (30 cm) between the boards. The new flattening should be perpendicular to the previous one.
The same is repeated from the other end.
At the ends of the pipe mark the middle of the marker and draw a straight line from the middle mark to the edge of the flattened part. The slope from bottom to top goes inside the bow. Photo Step 4.
Also, we recede from each end of 2-3 cm, put a mark and draw a small rounding of the end of the photo. Step 4.
Cut the marked edge with a knife and make rounding.
All this is repeated from the other end of the bow.
Hide the place of the cut. We heat the place of the cut with a construction hair dryer, when the edges become soft, as if we wrap the edges inwards (photo Step 5.1). Repeat from the other end.
The edges of the seam and rounding can also be treated with sandpaper.
Smooth out the transition between flattened ends and the main part of the bow.
To do this, slowly heat the transition point (about 30 cm mark) and about 2.5-5 cm to the side. The pipe should start to expand and smooth the transition by itself. Also in this you can bend the ends of the bow (30 cm segments at the ends) forward (the outer part of the bow).
Repeat from the other end.
By the beginning of this step, a relatively straight pipe is obtained with forward-curved ends.
With a construction dryer, we heat a segment from the “30 cm mark” to the beginning of the handle. Slightly bend the inside of the onion and let the pipe cool.
Repeat from the other end. They began to draw the outlines of onions.
Last bends. Heat the onion handle with a building hair dryer and squeeze the handle between the knees so that it takes the form of an oval (the sharp sides of the oval should look outward and inward).
At the same time, we raise the shoulders of the bow and the handle becomes slightly concave inside the bow.
PVC pipe bow is almost ready (photo Step 8.1-8.2).
We make indentations in the shoulders for the bowstring. We retreat from the end of 2 mm and from the front 0.5-10 mm. In the marked point we drill a hole with a drill with a diameter of 5.5 mm. Then, using a hacksaw, make an inclined cut from the edge to the hole.
Repeat from the other end of the bow.
Paint the onion with spray paint in the desired color. To make the paint better lay down, the surface of the onion can be slightly sanded with fine sandpaper, which will create a small uneven surface.
