M&S Best Of British Menswear: SS14 Collection
M&S Best Of British SS14
Marks & Spencer is celebrating UK style with a new launch for spring/summer 2014.
The brand’s SS14 Best of British line follows the global success of its debut collection in October 2013. The range is part of a partnership between M&S and the British Fashion Council.
The duo has one again joined forces to bring Britain’s textile and design history to the high street, with this season’s collection seeing classic wardrobe staples influenced by heritage design given a modern twist.
Silver and pastel tones dominate the colour palette and sit alongside on trend checks, which include Prince of Wales and oversized windowpane patterns. Luxury Scottish cashmere and Donegal tweed also make an appearance, tying together a larger part of the UK.
A spokesperson for M&S toldFashionBeansthat the brand took notes from its extensive archive in Leeds for the design of the pieces.
The company, which was founded in 1884, added:
“Attention to detail is integral to the collection, and bow ties, ties and Harringtons have been designed in suiting fabric to create the ultimate in refined sartorial dressing.
New shapes for spring include the white mac and the oversized bow tie, forming a new-look masculine mood for the season.”
Twenty British firms have been called in to produce the clothing for the collection, which is fronted by Oliver Cheshire.
Marks and Spencer’s Best of British range is available now at with prices starting at £19.50.
