How to recover text file

You will need
  • - a computer running Windows;
  • - text editor Microsoft Word;
  • - application Recovery Toolbox for Word.
Run Microsoft Word. After that, select “File” in the menu. Next, in the pop-up menu, click the “Open” command and specify the path to the damaged text file. Select it with the left mouse button.
From the bottom of the window you will see the "Open" button, next to which will be an arrow. Click on it with the left mouse button. In the list of possible actions, select the "Open and Restore" option. After that, the "File Conversion" dialog box will appear. In it, you can select the file encoding in which the document was created. If you know the encoding, select it. If the encoding is unknown, then simply click OK, and it will be selected automatically. Then the file recovery process begins. Upon its completion, the document will be opened, and you will be able to save the recovered version.
The second option. Act in the same way as before until you select the required document. Then click on the arrow opposite the line "All files".In the list that appears, select "Restore text from any file", and then click "Open." The text file will be restored. It is possible that the recovered document will need some editing.
The third option. Download Recovery Toolbox for Word from the Internet. Install it on your computer, then run it. In the main menu, click on the folder icon, then on Analyze. The text file analysis procedure begins. The content of the text file will be displayed in the program window. After the analysis is complete, the Start recovery button will be available. Specify the folder in which the file will be restored, and it will be saved in it.
